NIELIT Started Postgraduate diploma in Information Security and Cloud Computing (24 weeks)

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kozhikode, an autonomous body under the Union government, has invited applications for admission to postgraduate diploma courses commencing in February and March.

The courses will be useful for engineering graduates to enter into the information technology sector and the electronics industry.

Postgraduate diploma in Information Security and Cloud Computing (24 weeks): the course is aimed at moulding candidates into skilled system or cloud engineers with information security knowledge to maintain the systems, networks and cloud infrastructure. The course provides candidates with information required for configuration and administration of OS server, cloud development and its security and equip them with the skills required to protect and recover computer systems and networks from various security threats in dedicated or cloud environments. The course commences on March 3.

Entry qualification is M.Tech., B.Tech., MCA, M.Sc. or B.Sc. (IT, Computer Science or Electronics) degree or equivalent. The course fee is Rs. 59,000. Total seats: 25.

Apply before February 26. Selection is on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.

Postgraduate diploma in Software Technology (six months): it aims at preparing fresh graduates for professional positions in the software and IT industry by developing advanced skills in cutting-edge technologies such as •NET, JEE and Web Technology. The course module includes Android Application Development and project work. The course fee is Rs. 55,000. Those with a B.Tech., M.Sc. (IT, Computer Science and Electronics), MCA or BCA degree or graduates with PGDCA are eligible for admission. Placement assistance will be provided. The course will commence on March 3.

Postgraduate diploma in VLSI and Embedded Hardware Design: this course will start on February 24. It is intended to impart training in designing complex digital systems using integrated circuit cells as building blocks and employing hierarchical design methods. The course contents have been designed keeping in view the emerging trends in the field of VLSI design technology and emerging needs for skilled manpower. This course is structured to provide the students knowledge in design of digital systems, system architecture, hardware description languages required for VLSI Design such as VHDL and Verilog. The students shall get exposure to various ASIC Design Issues, CMOS Technology and VLSI Design techniques. Those who have a M.Tech. or B.Tech. degree in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Computer Science, IT or M.Sc. electronics are eligible for admission. The course fee is Rs. 68,000.

Postgraduate diploma in Industrial Automation System Design (24 weeks): the course will start on March 11. It is aimed at making an engineer with appropriate experience a qualified designer of industrial automation systems with the use of PLCs, PACs, Industrial Field Instruments, Industrial PCS, SCADA/ HMI, data acquisition boards, machine vision, robots, microprocessor-based instruments and related software. The course fee is Rs. 68,000.

Those who have a B.Tech. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering, Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Instrumentation and Control, Electronics and Communication, Mechatronics, and Computer Science and Engineering are eligible for admission. Final year students may also apply.
